The Special Merit Award is given by the Psychology Department to an undergraduate student in Honours Psychology after the degree requirements have been completed. The award is given to a student who is deserving of recognition for their strong contribution to the intellectual life of undergraduate psychology. Students receiving the award will generally be students who cannot be considered for other departmental awards (e.g., Walters, Bryden, or Currie), most typically because of factors such as previous degree work in other fields or long interruptions to their academic careers. The award is not given annually, but on an occasional as-merited basis at the discretion of the Psychology Department.
We are pleased to announce that Frank Preston will be receiving the Special Merit Award at the 2009 Psychology Convocation Luncheon. Congratulations Frank on your outstanding academic achievement in Psychology, and we look forward to your continued involvment in our labs during the coming year!
