Scientific Impact Award

On Friday, October 27th 2006 we will be celebrating the Second annual Ziva Kunda Memorial Lecture.  As the lecture approaches the thoughts of many of us turn back to reflect on Ziva and what she meant to us personally, and to our department.

Given that of late many of our thoughts have been turning toward Ziva, I was so pleased to hear that at the most recent meeting of the Society for Experimental Social Psychology Ziva was posthumously awarded the inaugural Scientific Impact Award.  This award honours the author of an article "offering a theoretical, empirical and /or methodological contribution that has proven very influential".   Concretely, the award was given for the article that, within the last 25 years, had done the most to shape the field of Social Psychology.

Ziva's article was entitled "The Case for Motivated Reasoning" and was published in Psychological Bulletin in 1990.

I can think of no more fitting tribute to honour the scientific contributions of this incredible scholar.
